Who am I? Well, I’m a man of mystery I suppose, since I’m writing in anonymity. I’m basically an ordinary guy. I think of myself as politically progressive, but I tend to diverge from my fellow progressive thinkers when the subject of guns comes up.

I’ve started writing this because I think our national conversation about firearms has left the realm of the rational. Most people have trouble learning from those who seem really different from themselves. When a person questions your core beliefs, it’s too easy to say, ‘he’s not educated like I am’, or ‘she’s crazy because of how she was brought up’. This site is meant to become a resource wherein an educated, critical-thinking person may glean some factual knowledge about firearms that will inform his opinion when the subject comes up.

I’m not an expert. I’m someone who is good at evaluating information and who has spent a lot of time reading about, talking about, taking apart, and shooting guns. I’ll try to cite sources where I can. I don’t put forth my writing as the final word on anything, I just want to nudge the conversation in a constructive direction.
